Role Overview: PwC is seeking a Senior Associate – Observability Engineer with strong expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing observability solutions. In this role, you will assess existing observability frameworks, identify gaps, and build robust capabilities encompassing log aggregation, event correlation, noise reduction, and comprehensive telemetry analysis to enable proactive operational excellence and reliability for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing client observability architectures to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement effective log aggregation pipelines ensuring centralized, scalable, and efficient log collection.
  • Build and configure event correlation frameworks to intelligently group and prioritize alerts, reducing alert fatigue and improving incident response times.
  • Implement noise reduction techniques to filter irrelevant or false-positive alerts, enhancing operational focus on genuine issues.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain monitoring and observability dashboards that provide actionable insights across applications and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps, SRE, and platform teams to integrate observability tools with existing CI/CD workflows and cloud infrastructure.
  • Advocate observability best practices including instrumentation standards, semantic conventions, and telemetry data governance.
  • Analyze telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces) to troubleshoot complex system behaviors, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge of log management, event correlation, distributed tracing, and alert management.
  • Stay up to date on observability innovations, tools, and industry trends and recommend adoption strategies tailored to client environments.
  • Support post-incident reviews and continuous improvement through data-driven root-cause analysis enabled by observability systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in observability, monitoring, or related infrastructure/control systems roles.
  • Proven expertise in setting up and managing log aggregation systems (ELK/EFK stack, Splunk, or equivalent).
  • Experience with event correlation platforms and techniques to reduce alert noise and support operational excellence.
  • Hands-on experience with observability standards and tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Understanding of distributed tracing, metrics collection, log parsing, and analysis methodologies.
  • Strong skills in scripting/programming (Python, Go, Bash, or similar) for automation and tooling enhancements.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
